Someone told me about this a few days ago, so I rushed down there today when the sun briefly broke through the rain clouds. I’m so glad I did, because this has to be seen to be believed.
This is the Abbey National Tower on Baker Street and they have demolished the whole building, but left the bell tower and front wall standing, suspended in mid-air. By 2009 there will be a building where the last one stood, but then they have to raise the bell tower before planting it atop its new home. Simply amazing.
Update: Here’s the link to General Demolition who oversaw the demolition of the old building.
